Two Year Plan
My personal plan, beyond what is shown on the Academic Requirement Worksheet, is to complete my GE requirements as fast as possible. It is likely that I'll be transferring schools after the Spring '14 semester. But, the most defined goal I have is to begin my focused, core courses as early as I can manage.
Currently, I'm a full-time student and love it. However, the looming aspect of relying on myself to generate income and stay alive is ever present. I would like to start working again next semester and hopefully make enough money to be self-sufficient. I just want to eliminate money as an agent of stress while I'm trying to learn.
At this point, I have completed everything in the Fall '12 column, including Pre-Calculus over the summer. I want to continue studying at the same pace. Thus, the circled classes are the ones that would potentially be moved around. Next semester, (Spring '13) I will be taking Calculus, Environmental Science + Service Learning, and Chemistry 111 + Lab. The following summer, I would like to enroll in some kind of fast-track Spanish class. I want to make the most of my time by fulfilling all my General Education before transferring, but what makes this so challenging is the fact that I'll be knocking out the prerequisite courses at the same time.
I find relief in the fact that a plan has been laid out before me. Higher education is definitely not the situation to be shooting in the dark. I like the way this Two-Year Plan eliminated variables, but still allowed for some flexibility. The way this course selection works allows me to see my goals more clearly, while giving me all the control over the decision-making process that I need.
